First Annual Vanport Mosaic Festival

Vanport Mosaic Festival Flyer for 2017
The Vanport Mosaic hosted the first annual Vanport Mosaic Festival this month to commemorate the city of Vanport and reunite the survivors of the 1948 flood.

This amazing festival featured youth poetry, a theatrical production of “Cottonwood in the Flood” about the African American experience in Vanport, screenings of short oral history documentary, “Lost City, Living Memories: Vanport through the voices of its residents,” a tour of the historical site of the city, and a companion exhibit called “Vanport: The Surge of Social Change.”

Over 600 people biked, walked, or took bus tours of historic Vanport, 70 educators attended an educational workshop, and 65 former Vanport residents attended the reunion dinner.

We hope you’ll join us next year!
