July 2018 - Special federal study of the levee system is designated by Congress

After making several requests over multiple years, the Columbia Corridor levee system is designated as a site for a US Army Corps New Start Feasibility Study through the 2018 Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 (Public Law 115-123) under the Long Term Disaster Recovery Investment Plan or “storm supplemental,” which was intended to help places recovering from major natural disasters and to help strengthen infrastructure vulnerable places.

What’s more exciting, Congress fully funded the study with no local match required.

This three-year study will build on the work that Levee Ready Columbia has already completed and will identify solutions to address areas vulnerable to flood damage and paths to implement those solutions.
